Arts Aloud celebrated over 25 talented teens on Saturday, July 22, 2017! The sold-out crowd gathered at Bellflower’s Bristol Civic Auditorium to hear a wide range of acts, from singing and dancing to musical theater and stand-up comedy.
George Pennacchio of ABC7 Eyewitness News served as the program’s Master of Ceremonies.
A starry array of esteemed artists participated in the event as presenters and judges, including actors Michael Trevino (The Vampire Diaries), Beth Grant (The Mindy Project), Ivonne Coll (Jane the Virgin); Oscar-nominated composer Charles Fox (Ready to Take a Chance Again, 9 to 5); Choreographer Gianna Martello (Dance Moms); and legendary guitarist, Christopher Parkening.
First, second, and third place awards were presented to the highest-placing acts in two age divisions (13-15 & 16-18). Cash prizes and matching charitable contributions were underwritten by the Wells Fargo Foundation.
Legendary actor, tenor, and gourmet chef, Paul Sorvino, made a surprise appearance to announce the winning participants.
A male and female participant each received the Rob Fukuzaki Sportsmanship Award, named after KABC’s distinguished sportscaster, Rob Fukuzaki. Mr. Fukuzaki’s Heads Up Youth Foundation funded both sportsmanship awards.
