Arts Aloud celebrated over 20 talented young adults on Saturday, July 28, 2018! The packed house at Bellflower’s Bristol Civic Auditorium was treated a variety of acts who competed for deserving charities.

An esteemed group of artists participated in the event as presenters and judges, including actors Cody Christian (Pretty Little Liars, Teen Wolf, All American); Dee Wallace  (ET, Cujo, The Howling); Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful, Hadestown); Gloria Gifford (This is Spinal Tap); Oscar winner George Chakiris (West Side Story), Karis Campbell (The West Wing); and ABC7 field reporter and fill-in anchor, Veronica Miracle. The event was hosted by ABC7 Entertainment Reporter, George Pennacchio.

First, second, and third place awards were presented to the highest-placing acts in two age divisions (13-15 & 16-18). Cash prizes and matching charitable contributions were underwritten by the Wells Fargo Foundation. The Rob Fukuzaki Sportsmanship Award, named after KABC’s distinguished sportscaster, Rob Fukuzaki, was presented to a male and female participant. Selection criteria includes timeliness, rehearsal attendance, temperament, and willingness to follow direction. Recipients each received a $200 Visa gift card and a ticket to Universal Studios and Disneyland.

THE THREE GEORGES! A special appearance was made by world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Jorge Lazareff (pictured center), who offered his best wishes and support to the competing talent. Also pictured: award presenter George Chakiris (L) and emcee George Pennacchio (R).
